National Jewish Committee on Scouting Eagle Scout Scholarship

The National Jewish Committee on Scouting (NJCS) will award a national scholarship to the Eagle Scout who best meets the qualifications outlined in the
nomination application (below).
Financial Need
Applicants for the Vernon or Arkans scholarships must submit a copy of the Free Application for Federal Student Assistance (FAFSA).
Instructions for Completing Application
The applicant should type or print all information. All sections should be completed with as much information as possible. If more space is needed, applicant may attach additional pages.
Section A. The applicant should list all activities
he participated in during high school and also list any awards, honors,
and recognition received. He should record his grade point average as
provided by school officials.
Section B. The applicant should list all community organizations
in which he has held membership, excluding high school and Scouting. He
should complete the section on community service participation by listing
his involvement in activities that directly or indirectly improved life
in his community.
Section C. The applicant should include his history
with any religious youth organizations, clubs, or groups, including honors
earned and offices held.
Section D. This section will be reviewed closely by
the selection committee. The applicant should include as much information
as possible concerning his involvement with Scouting.
Section E. The selection committee realizes that in
many cases applicants have not decided on career goals. The applicant
should complete this section to the best of his ability.
Section F. The applicant may submit more than the four
letters required from leaders of his religious institution, school, community,
and Scouting unit. The letters of recommendation are an important part
of this application and will be carefully reviewed by the selection committee.

Application to the NJCS must be submitted no later than December 31. Send to

The names of the recipients will be announced by March 1 each calendar year.
The recipients will be eligible to receive their scholarships immediately upon graduation from an accredited high school and must utilize the entire award within four years of their graduation date, excluding any time spent on active military duty.
The scholarship may be used to attend a college, university, or school selected by the student providing it is state accredited, above the high school level.
Disbursement from the scholarship fund will be made jointly to the student and the school. Scholarship funds may be used only to defray necessary costs of a student's education.
