World
Friendship "A Scout is friendly. A Scout is a friend to all. He IS a brother to other Scouts. He seeks to understand others. He respects those with ideas and cus;oms other than his own." That's what the handbook tells us about the Durth point of the Scout Law. What does that nean? For one thing, it reminds us that we have l. lot of brothers. Did you know that there are about 12 million ,couts in some 115 countries around the world? 3couting is a lot bigger than our troop, our local :ouncil, or even the Boy Scouts of America. It's a vorldwide movement of brothers. Some ofthose brothers are in poor countries. To lelp them the Boy Scouts of America has the World ~riendship Fund, which collects money from ~erican Scouts to buy uniform material, supplies md equipment, and to train their adult leaders. Next week our troop will be making a collection or the World Friendship Fund. You don't have to jve a lot. Just contribute one ofthe quarters you'd use for candy or a video game at the arcade. It will help. Your contribution doesn't have to be a big sacrifice for you to show your friendship for Scouts around the world. Remember, a Scout is friendly. |
