Personal Wet-Weather Fire Starters For surefire fire-starting in the wettest weather, use paraffin-coated materials. Or carry a candle stub. To melt paraffin, improvise a double boiler-a can with the paraffin inserted in another can of boiling water. You'll avoid flash fires from the paraffin that way. Do all your work out-of-doors to avoid a fire. For a simpler way to waterproof matches, drip candle wax onto the entire kitchen match and rub in soft wax. |
